Despite the distractions the Daily Mail try offering in the form of headlines like this gem: 'Heavily pregnant Jennifer Garner rubs her back', I particularly enjoyed the poster offering me the opportunity to bask in Conservative sunshine and goodness. If only they still made them like that.

I'd watch more TV if I thought the ads were still this good (better than many programmes).

Love the way Hancock even takes on the idea of selling out and makes it part of the story. While the woman in the mad hat is a real gem with her broken English and dreadful teeth (perhaps she didn't eat enough eggs as a child).

As Tom says, you'd probably never get an ad like this approved today.

Cheers - H

PS: Did this ad introduce the fad of arranging food in funny shapes, as later popularised by Annabel Karmel?

That has to be the most bizzare ad I have ever seen - yet, oddly, it works in getting the message across - what fun. Thank you - H

Imagine how radical this sort of thing would be today. An incredibly long ad, all dialogue, reasonably long shots with no insane jump-cuts all the time. One of the actors says a great line three (four?) times - 'Happiness is egg-shaped!' - but that's not even the pay-off slogan, which is 'Go to work on an egg'. You'd never get it approved – but it's brilliant.
